10 Confessions of a Listing Agent

I have worked with a lot of of real estate agents.  Both when I was an agent and when I’ve helped them as either a marketing director or here at Go Left Marketing.  The two sided coin of being a real estate agent (listing agent or buyers agent) often sets agents up to be good at one side but lacking in the other.  What better way to learn how the be a better buyers agent, than to learn from a great listing agent.  In this interview with Andy Bovender, we cover ten “confessions” from him and his team.  These are lessons that they have learned over the last two decades of helping clients selling their homes in the greater Charlotte area.  We cover everything from reputation to the best way to price homes.

Below is Andy’s take on why he wanted to put these tips out there.

There’s a huge disconnect between buyer’s agents and the listing agents themselves.

Currently, I’m predominantly a listing agent who helps sellers get the most for their homes, but I’m lucky enough to have worked as both a listing agent and a buying agent for years. And my experience has shown me that the best listing agents possess knowledge that is invaluable to buyer’s agents.

This information can also help other listing agents become better at their craft. Did you know listing agents tend to represent buyers better because they know how fellow listing agents and their sellers think?

So, in my interview with Michael, I give you a sneak peek into the minds of listing agents.

By the end of this interview, you’ll be able to:

  • Look at the transaction from every angle in order to put you and your client in the strongest possible position.
  • Determine a listing agent’s and seller’s mindset and strategies, so you can be a better buyer’s agent.
  • Understand how changing emotions and individual personalities can affect a sale.

Many buyers agents never become strong listing agents, but if they at least know what listing agents are thinking, they can put themselves in more advantageous situations.
