I’m not a sports writer (I’m barely an average writer) but after watching the Seattle Seahawks commit highway robbery of the NFC championship game it shows why people love sports.
Sports is a microcosm of life.
The Seahawks were “d-u-n”, done in that game. But they found a way to win. It wasn’t that they won, it was how they won. They were down the whole game, their leader was having what was probably his worst game ever and one of their defensive leaders was clearly hobbled by an injured arm.
How many movies have been made that parallel the circumstances we saw today in real life? Rocky. Star Wars. The Lord of the Rings.
Some of the most endearing stories are of a character showing character in times of adversity— until they prevail. If the Seahawks didn’t recover that onside kick I would have picked a different topic to write about. But they did — they hung in there and found themselves victorious.
So when you’re grasping at what you think is the end of your rope — simply hang on. Sometimes, hanging on is the only thing required for you to succeed. And in the cases you don’t win — you’ll at least know that you have what it takes to take a beating and get back into the game. And knowing that will serve you best the next time the game is on the line.
