Everyone wants more visitors going to their websites. If you don’t then you’re lying, in denial (which is just lying to yourself right?), or you’re Google (then again, even Google is looking for more visitors). Why should you want more visitors? In the connected world we live in, getting visited means you have credibility. If you have credibility then you are one step closer to securing a customer, a fan, a like – when you do this, you build an audience. When you have an audience, you have authority. When you have authority you get more visitors. And then the happy cycle begins.
But how do you do it without spending five figures a month? Here are some ways you can get started – this isn’t a comprehensive list, but it is a list of 6 easy ways to get more traffic to your website.
Create great content
This is by far the most effective way of driving traffic to your website. It doesn’t matter if you’re writing a blog post, sharing a picture or a video, or singing your version of “Let it Go” – great content is sought after. It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in – you and your customers have a set of challenges or questions that need to be met. If you set your eyes on solving those challenges or answering those questions and you’re consistently great about it, people will find your website.
Go for On-page SEO
Optimizing your content for search engines is a valuable and worthwhile practice. You can create internal links to new content and try meta descriptions. Optimizing for on-page SEO can help boost your traffic. Now that’s a really technical definition of on page SEO. As important as content is, on page SEO is just dotting your “i’s” and crossing your “t’s” and assures that your great content is found by the people looking for it. Write snappy titles & use interesting photos
This is mostly geared towards blog content but could pertain to other content on your site. How you title your content is one of the most important parts of driving traffic to your site. In fact, there are stats out there that say a large amount of content is shared based on the title or picture. Even if you have a nice and attractive site but the content is titled poorly, you may be deflecting not attracting visitors. Think carefully about your titles and photos you use and make sure that it is irresistible to read.
The content you are creating is important to someone out there. Not using social media to distribute your content is like keeping a candle under a bowl in a dark room. It is how most people get updates about their friends, the scoop about the entertainment industry, reviews about products and services they are thinking about using or buying, and even the latest news. Repurpose a blog post by turning it into a Slideshare deck, or eBook. Then share a slide or page on the platform your target audience interacts with the most.
Make sure your website is fast and responsive
If your site takes so long to load, instead of keeping visitors there, they will bounce (you may have heard of the term bounce rate) or be repelled. Make sure that your pages are as technically optimized as possible – especially for mobile. Do not force your visitors to pinch and scroll their way around your site, you’re basically telling them to go elsewhere. This mean you will need to know what is important for your visitors to see when they are on their mobile devices – prioritizing what they see will help keep them there and drive them back when they finally get to a computer.
List your website on free listing portals
It takes time to establish your business on the web. SEO works, but it can take some time to build that presence. Which is why utilizing free listing portals is a great idea. Here is a list of our favorite, must-use today portals for growing your business and increasing visitors to your website:

It takes a few hours to create accounts for each listing, but it is worth having that extra online visibility. And there are many more sites out there, but the 8 listed are the most used and popular among businesses and consumers.
